Artwork Guidelines

We provide some artwork guidelines to ensure your custom box looks perfect. From adjusting colors to improving details, we guide you every step of the way. Here are recommended artwork tips and guidelines for custom boxes!

Color Guidelines

When designing artwork, always use CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) or Pantone spot colors for the best print results. RGB (Red, Green, and Blue) is for digital screens and may not print correctly, resulting in color changes. So it is important to convert into proper color mode for accurate color production.

Font Guidelines

Printed text should always be easy to read, so we recommend using a font size of at least 8pt to maintain readability. Complex or decorative fonts, like italic styles, may appear less sharp in print than on a screen. To avoid readability issues, prioritize clean, bold fonts that enhance visibility. Here are a few key points to remember when preparing text for packaging:

  • The minimum font size for clear printing should be 9pt.
  • Bold, high-contrast text works best for readability.
  • Embed or outline all fonts before submission to ensure accurate printing.
  • Save your final design in ‘Adobe PDF/X-1a’ format.

Resolution

For clear and sharp printing, artwork should be at least 300 dots per inch DPI. Using a lower resolution may cause pixelation or blurry images.

File Format Choice

For clear and high-quality printing, artwork should be submitted in high-resolution formats like PDF, TIFF, or EPS, as these maintain design clarity during printing. If your design includes photos or non-vector elements, ensure they are in JPEG or PNG format with at least 300 DPI resolution for sharp results.

Organizing Artwork Files

Keep your artwork files well-organized by using separate layers for different design elements and labeling them clearly. This makes it easier to edit, reduces errors, and ensures the correct elements are used during printing.
